The School of Engineering & Technology offers scholarship awards for incoming and continuing students.
Financial need, required for most SET scholarships, is determined by the Financial Aid Office through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Visit the FAFSA page to apply for aid.

- Review the scholarships descriptions before completing your scholarship application to understand which awards you will be eligible for consideration.
- Prepare ahead to submit the following information:
- Student and contact information
- Unofficial transcripts (official transcripts must be on file at UW Tacoma)
- Overview of service or leadership activities at your college campus and/or in the local community.
- Personal statement document:
- Typed, single space, and in 12 point font.
- One page minimum; two pages maximum
- Topic: Our communities often prepare us to solve problems in diverse teams and for a diverse world. Tell us about any significant communities that you are actively part of as a college student, your role in these communities, why you are involved, and how the perspectives, skills, or insights you have gained from these experiences impact your current and future work. Note that your community does not have to be at UW Tacoma. Community might refer to your club/organization, workplace, research team, family, religious group, cultural group, etc.
General SET Scholarships
Scholarships from the SET general fund are available to all SET students.

Boeing Diversity Scholarship
The School of Engineering & Technology receives a generous donation from the Boeing Company to be awarded to SET juniors and seniors who have demonstrated a commitment to diversity in their college and/or community life. Please note: applicants who wish to be considered for the Boeing Diversity Scholarship must submit the separate application for this award.
Majors: Any SET major
Class standing: Junior or senior
Preference:
- Cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher
- Demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Office of Financial Aid
- U.S. Citizen or permanent resident
- Instructor or volunteer in UW Tacoma’s Math, Science and Leadership youth outreach program or alumni of the MSL program
- Participated in any registered student organization that has a diversity focus (such as: Latinxs Embracing Education, Desi Student Alliance, Filipino American Student Organization, Somali Student Association, Women in Computing Science, the Black Student Union, or the Native American Student Organization) or been active in the campus Center for Equity and Inclusion.

CyberCorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS)
CyberCorps®: Scholarship for Service (SFS) is a unique program funded by a National Science Foundation grant designed to increase and strengthen the cadre of information assurance professionals that protect the government’s critical information infrastructure.
Major: Computer Science and Systems or Information Technology
Preference: Academic merit; able to meet selection criteria for federal employment, including obtaining a security clearance
Duration: Full tuition and academic fees for up to 3 years
Henry T. Schatz School of Engineering & Technology Endowed Scholarship
The intent of this award is to provide high-achieving undergraduate students with more time to devote to the rigors of analytical and logical studies and thus develop their "creativity and critical thinking" ability.
Major: Any incoming SET major
Preference: Academic merit; Demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid
Duration: One academic year
Simpson Investment Company Endowed Scholarship
The Simpson Investment Company Endowed Scholarship provides assistance to undergraduate students in the study of math, science, and technology at the University of Washington Tacoma’s School of Engineering & Technology.
Major: Any entering SET student
Preference: Academic merit; Demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid; students who have participated in the Simpson Math and Science Internship (as long as such program exists).
Duration: One academic year, renewable for an additional year of undergraduate study
Neil Kepple Memorial Endowed Scholarship
The purpose of this endowment is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students at the University of Washington Tacoma School of Engineering and Technology.
Majors: B.S. in Computer Engineering and Systems students; B.S. in Electrical Engineering students
Preference: Academic merit; Demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid; U.S. military veterans

Larry Clive Wear Memorial Scholarship
The purpose of this endowment is to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering and Systems through the School of Engineering & Technology at the University of Washington Tacoma.
Majors: B.S. Computer Engineering and Systems at UW Tacoma SET

Vicky L. Carwein and William B. Andrews Endowed Scholarship in Engineering and Technology
