Quantitative Support Services at the TLC can help students prepare for the math placement exam.
Types of Support Offered
Some of the ways in which we can assist include:
- Providing relevant resources
- Recommending a study plan
- Identifying strengths and weaknesses
- Reviewing particular concepts and one-on-one drop in tutoring
- Providing refresher workshops on select subjects (see our Workshops page, generally refresher workshops are at the beginning of the quarter)
- Discussing strategies for dealing with math anxiety
Please note that we do not advocate cramming for the placement exam. If you need extensive assistance and reviewing, we suggest that you try to take a class if that option is available to you.
How to Get the Most Out of Quantitative Support Services
To get the most out of your preparation for the placement exam, we recommend that you:
- Take a practice test before coming to the TLC
- Bring your practice test with you, along with any other study materials you might have
- Have a relatively clear idea of what you would like assistance with, or be ready to discuss a plan of action
