Tahoma West is dedicated to developing and promoting the arts at UW Tacoma. We accomplish this in three ways:
- By providing an outlet for the creative expression of students, faculty, alumni, and staff.
- By exposing novice authors, poets, and artists to the creative publication process, at an accessible, local scale.
- By providing copies of our book, in print and digital formats, for free to the UW Tacoma community. The book is available in both print and digital formats. This is made possible through funding from the student-led Services and Activities Fee Committee, as well as the support of the UW Tacoma Library Digital Commons.
We believe that creativity is a vital part of the human experience. Art allows us to examine the world, and how we understand the way it works. It allows us to become activists and advocates, to raise important questions, and to highlight the issues that are important to us. Art is also just a great way to entertain ourselves and others!
We encourage students to put their work in front of an audience by publishing with Tahoma West. There is a place and a purpose for all mediums of creative expression. There is a place for each of us.
