The Center for Student Involvement hosts a variety of events for, and alongside, RSOs each year. They include:
Held each quarter, the Center for Student Involvement hosts multiple Involvement Fairs throughout the school year. These fair bring together a large number of the student organization and involvement opportunities on campus - as a centralized location and event for students to find out how they can become involved. It is a perfect recruitment tool for every RSO! The fairs are held in the first or second week of each quarter. More information about signing up for tables is sent quarterly to RSO Officers
Club Camp, held in mid-September before the Autumn Quarter begins, is required for all registered student organizations for the upcoming academic year. Each organization is responsible for sending at least two officers for the all-day training. During Club Camp, RSO officers will learn about the various resources available for their organization, as well as policies and procedures that they should be aware of. In addition, attendees will have the chance to do goal setting, network with other RSO officers, and go to different workshops put on by UW Tacoma staff and student leaders. Past workshops included marketing and advertising, collaborating with organizations and departments, and transferring your officer role onto a resume.
If you missed Club Camp in September, contact the Center for Student Involvement at uwtclubs@uw.edu to set up an individualized training/information session.
Every year, our Registered Student Organizations work to collect as many canned items and non-perishable foods as possible, to benefit the Center for Equity & Inclusion Pantry, that provides food and grocery items to UW Tacoma community members. Registered Student Organizations are encouraged to participate by donating items from their organizations to the Center for Student Involvement. Each donation earns them points, based on the particular item that is donated.
Block Party is an end-of-the-year celebration for student organizations! Participating organizations are required to come up with a booth and game that aligns with the year's theme - which is selected each year by a student planning committee. Each organization is given $100.00 to help with purchasing goods and supplies to support their booth and the creation of their game. Contact the Center for Student Involvement at uwtclubs@uw.edu for more information.
The Outstanding Student Ceremony for Awards and Recognition (OSCARs), held at the end of the spring quarter, is an annual UW Tacoma tradition that celebrates the hard work of students, faculty, and staff across campus. Awards include Registered Student Organization of the Year, RSO Advisor of the Year, Student Leader of the Year, Volunteer of the Year, and many more. Information about nominations for OSCARs awards is available at the end of the winter quarter each year. More information, including previous year's winners, is available on the OSCARs website.
