Student Affairs Staff Spotlight: Noelle Wilson (January 2021)
Each month, Student Affairs recognizes one of its outstanding staff members for their hard work, dedication, and passion for serving the UW Tacoma community.
Noelle Wilson
Unit: Office of Admissions
Hobby: I spend a lot of my free time at our small business that we own – The Painting Panda Pottery Studio in Freighthouse Square. Outside of that, I love quality time with my husband and 3 daughters exploring the local parks!
Favorite Place on UW Tacoma campus and Why: My favorite place on campus is the TPS building. It’s the newest building on campus, but it has a great open floor plan on the first floor that allows so much great natural light in as well as the garage doors that open for fresh air!

Noelle’s work has done a full 180! She usually plans and implements in-person programming. She usually oversees the front desk operations, customer service, and in-office face to face work. But now she’s UW Tacoma Admission’s premier Executive Producer.
Noelle’s innovation and communication has created a new world for campus visitation and how we interact with our prospective students. She took on our Admitted Student Day programming last spring with minimal notice to completely change the program, and it was a smashing hit!
She reinvented our campus tour without relying on the overwhelming number of vendors insisting they were the only route to success. We have maintained our ability to provide group visits and upgraded our webinar offerings. She is helping assure that anyone who wants to engage with UW Tacoma, can, and can do so via many avenues. Noelle has maintained her activity with the Collegiate Information and Visitor Services Association, often leaving meetings having provided ideas and practices that offer inspiration to other institutions across our region.
Noelle has maintained connection to our campus ambassadors, helping to assure they are still on track for academic success, and helping them understand how their jobs have changed. She has been creative in assuring they have meaningful work and maintained a sense of belonging on our team.
Beyond visitation processes, Noelle is making sure all incoming calls to the admissions office are handled and that our 10,000 annual emails are answered, forwarded and organized. She is truly a behind the scenes magician. The impact of her work is strong, as students who actively choose to engage with the university are far more likely to apply and attend.
Noelle is doing all of this from home, with three young children distance learning and running a small business in Tacoma with her husband.
Thank you Noelle!!
