Husky On Demand
The Center for Student Involvement understands that sometimes, students may not be able to learn certain information or enhance skills because of their other priorities in life. Husky On Demand is an answer to the scheduling issues that keep students from the skills and experiences they would like to develop.
Have you ever wanted to participate in a program or activity at UW Tacoma, but the date or time did not fit in your schedule? Do you feel like you’ve missed out on important information by not being able to attend?
The Center for Student Involvement understands that sometimes, students may not be able to learn certain information or enhance certain skills because of their other priorities in life. Husky On Demand is an answer to the scheduling issues that may keep students from developing the skills and experiences they would like to earn.
Husky On Demand is a resource for UW Tacoma students to use when time is on their side. Gathered in this section of DawgDen are videos and clips students can use to:
- Learn new skills
- Enhance strengths
- Discover and retain new information
- Explore concepts and attributes that assist their development
- Try new activities and hobbies
- Take therapeutic breaks from their studies
- Earn 500 Dawg Bones for each completed experience
Each experience includes the information that students will need to access the Experience. Our Center for Student Involvement staff has pulled helpful and interesting materials from LinkedIn Learning, Youtube, Ted Talks, and many other resources to help connect students to engaging and informational resources.
Once they have completed an Experience on DawgDen, they can select "Apply to Earn" Button to earn credit towards the experience on DawgDen. A form will load with questions that allow students for reflection. The form may also ask you questions that help provide the Center for Student Involvement with more information about the quality of videos, suggestions for other topics, and more. Some forms, depending on the task, may ask for an upload a certificate earned from a LinkedIn Learning Course or a photo.
Some of the current experiences that students can complete include:
- Professional Development Workshops through LinkedIn Learning
- Self-Care workshops
- Self-Care activities, such as meditation, mindfulness, pancake-making, and fitness
- Activities to spark hobbies like drawing, painting, origami, and tic-tac-toe
Check out the options available on DawgDen—more will be added throughout the year to expand the Husky On Demand knowledge library
