Menstrual Hygiene Products
UW Tacoma stocks menstrual hygiene products in all-gender restrooms and restrooms designated for female students. Making hygiene products widely available expands access to an essential resource, improves the experience of students on campus, and brings us into compliance with Washington State law. IFM is eager to provide this support!
IMPORTANT UPDATE
Shortages Impact Capacity
The IFM Custodial team continues to be impacted by staffing shortages. While we work with reduced staff, we are prioritizing specific spaces. Please see our general service schedule below. The schedule is subject to change based on daily staffing levels and campus requests.
Prioritized spaces will remain restrooms, classrooms, general food/eating areas for faculty/staff/students, and central (hallway) three-bin waste station removal. Locations impacted by reductions/cuts include but are not limited to department suites, individual offices, and internal stairwells. Supplies and self-cleaning tools (vacuums, dusters, cleaner) are available from at the MDS 113 IFM suite for any faculty or staff to check out.
We also ask that event managers evaluate cleaning needs when planning their events and identify when self-cleaning can occur on 25Live event forms. IFM appreciates your support during this challenging time. Please feel free to reach out with questions or concerns.
General Service Schedule
- Classrooms/Labs - Twice weekly
- Restrooms - Twice daily
- Conference rooms - Daily
- General eating areas - Daily
- Hallway 3-bin waste removal - Checked daily, trash removed as needed
- Break rooms - Daily
Special requests may be made by submitting a Facilities Service Request. Requests are completed as soon as possible as resources are available. For situations requiring immediate attention, please call IFM at 253-692-5700.
Suites and Offices
Custodial services for suites and offices are not currently being provided. Supplies and self-cleaning tools (vacuums, dusters, cleaner) are available at the MDS 113 IFM suite for any faculty or staff to check out. Receptacle waste removal is the responsibility of the occupants. Individuals are to take the waste from their offices or workstations and place it in corridor and open area receptacles. This allows custodial team members to focus on academic spaces and other central areas. Additional receptacles have been placed throughout corridors to accommodate this and will be serviced at least once a day. Receptacle liners are provided at department suites for distribution and stocked on a regular basis. Food waste should never be left in suites and offices, only placed within designated corridor receptacles.
Custodial Support for Events
Events that utilize university classrooms, conference rooms, William Philip Hall or any other spaces and include food should be scheduled for custodial services cleaning via 25Live. Advance notice is encouraged so building occupants and IFM can make the necessary arrangements for these support services.
If you prefer to self-clean, please add a note on FS Task Item in 25Live and we will verify if it is allowable for that space.
Please note if your event enlists Facilities Resources services such as custodial cleaning, extra trash receptacles, water access, or electrical support, and you need to cancel within 5 days of your event, you are required to contact IFM directly via phone 253-692-5700. If you do not cancel directly, you may incur a charge.
