Security upgrades were made to the Court 17 parking garage just before the start of Autumn Quarter 2023. This upgrade comes with some important changes for some Huskies, so please take a moment to see if any of these changes affect you!

 

What has changed:

  • an active Husky Card is required for access at all Court 17 parking garage entrances, as well as the 3rd floor vehicle exit
  • your Husky Card will allow you to access the garage on a specific schedule, which is the same as the main entrances to most campus buildings

 

How this affects you:

  • Everyone now needs their Husky Card to access the parking garage
  • Employee access hours are the same as the valid hours of parking permits (6am - 11pm daily)
  • Court 17 residents still have 24/7 access to the parking garage
  • Students who are not residents of Court 17  can only access the parking garage according on the following schedule:
    • 7:30 am to 10 pm Monday to Thursday
    • 7:30 am to 5 pm on Fridays
    • No weekend access

Transportation Services has no control over building access hours - we cannot change them for all permit-holders or for specific students.

If this change creates a problem for you:

  • Students who need extended access to the parking garage due to an on-campus job or classes scheduled outside of normal hours, your professor or supervisor must submit a request to Campus Safety & Security. Contact uwtsafe@uw.edu for assistance with submitting requests.
  • You can request to cancel your permit for a refund by emailing transit@uw.edu with your permit information within the first 2 weeks of the academic quarter

 

Additional access information:

  • The first floor vehicle exit gate does not require Husky ID to open, so you will be able to drive out even if your Husky Card has stopped working for the evening
  • If your car is in the parking garage and you are not able to use your Husky Card to get inside, contact Campus Safety & Security for assistance

 

We hope that this change will not create significant problems since employee access is the same as the valid permit parking hours and students already do not have access to any campus buildings outside of their access schedule.
