53% of UW Tacoma students are first-generation.
First-generation college students are the students who identify as first in their family to graduate from college, meaning that neither parent or guardian has completed a college degree.
Through our programs and services we seek to support first-generation students to successfully transition into college life. We do this by being a welcoming space for student use, through engagement and outreach opportunities, and helping with academic, professional, and personal development.
