Congratulations on your admission to University of Washington Tacoma as an undergraduate student!
Make sure you have completed the next steps outlined on the Office of Admissions website. When finished, read on to learn about additional requirements for new students. Take note of any requirements that may result in a registration block/hold if it isn't satisfied by the deadline.
UW Immunization Requirements
Students attending classes at the University of Washington are required to provide proof of vaccination against Measles, Mumps, and Meningitis Meningococcal ACWY, with certain exemptions allowed. We recommend that documentation of immunity should be submitted no later than the first day of the quarter. Incomplete records may cause delays in your future quarter registration process.
Impacts to Registration:
If you do not submit the required immunization documentation before Registration Period 1 begins for your second quarter, a hold will be placed on your registration until your documentation is received.
Note: Students in the Social Work program should follow the processes and deadlines of the Health Sciences Immunization Program (HSIP), instead of completing the UW Immunization Requirement verification.
Visit the Immunization Requirement's website for details and instructions on fulfilling the immunization requirement. Their website contains links to an online portal for submitting the required documentation. Starting Spring 2024, students will submit required immunization documents through Med+Proctor (purchasing MPPro is not required to submit documentation). Please note that the Office of the Registrar cannot accept your immunization documents or assist with any of the registration holds/blocks that are tied to the immunization requirements.
Did you receive vaccines in Washington?
The Washington State Immunization Information System (WAIIS) may contain your immunization records. Update your Consent for Immunization Record Query so UW can easily assist you in meeting this requirement.
Looking for vaccination sites?
There several locations around Tacoma, including clinics and pharmacies, that offer free and low-cost options for the MMR and Meningitis ACWY vaccines in the Tacoma that students without health insurance can access if needed. Contact Student Health Services for further assistance.

Title IX
About Title IX
The University of Washington maintains a central Title IX office on the Seattle campus that coordinates efforts for all three campuses.
Title IX, Title VII, VAWA, Washington State law, and University of Washington policy collectively prohibit discrimination based on sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender expression, pregnant or parenting status, and LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer) identity.
Anyone may contact the Office of the Title IX Coordinator about sex and gender discrimination, including sexual or gender-based harassment, sexual assault, intimate partner violence, stalking, and other forms of sexual misconduct. Anyone who has experienced these behaviors has the right to make a complaint to the University, report to the police, to both, or not at all.
Go to the UW Title IX website to learn more about how to report or make a formal complaint of sex discrimination, sexual harassment, or other sexual misconduct. You will also find information about supportive measures and the grievance procedures that are utilized for complaints of sexual harassment and other sexual misconduct. Students and employees have access to support measures and resources, whether or not they choose to make a complaint.
Title IX Student Course
Husky Prevention & Response is an online course about preventing and responding to sex- and gender-based violence and harassment. All students are required to complete the 60–90 minute online student course. If you are a student employee, you must also complete a separate employee course, which takes approximately 20-30 minutes to complete.
Impacts to Registration
New and returning students who have not completed the Husky Prevention & Response (Title IX) student course will be blocked from registering for their second quarter. The registration block will be lifted within approximately an hour of course completion
Visit the Title IX Student Course website for details and instructions on fulfilling this requirement.

Hazing Prevention
A core value of being a Husky is ensuring the safety and well-being of each other in our community. We aim to ensure you have a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment in which to grow and prosper.
One way to do that is to raise awareness of hazing, educate you on the dangers of this behavior, and empower you to report the concern to the appropriate office.
All incoming students at the University of Washington are expected to complete the course during their orientation process.
Visit the Hazing Prevention website for details and instructions on fulfilling this requirement.
