SUS Scholarship & Teaching Funds (STF)
When funds are available, the School of Urban Studies will consider providing additional support to faculty to advance scholarship and teaching. This funding is limited in size and varies annually. Please note this funding is in addition to the regular annual professional development support that faculty receive.
Funding Cycle
Funds will be distributed in one round each year and must be spent within the the fiscal year the funds were awarded (see timeline section below for more detail). Awards will generally be made for amounts not to exceed $2,000. At the Dean's discretion, requests exceeding this amount may be approved.
Application Process
When applying for Scholarship and Teaching Funds, faculty should include a justification of the budget requested as well as a statement that establishes budget priorities should partial funding be awarded. Please note that these funds are intended to support faculty development. Student activities (such as travel) which do not offer direct support to faculty development will not be considered.
Decisions regarding funding allocations will be made by the Dean of the School of Urban Studies.
Funding approval will be made using the following evaluation rubric:

Requests to purchase equipment, software, hardware, food, and other supplies are subject to UW policy governing the use of University funding.
In general, the following restrictions apply to Scholarship and Teaching Fund Requests:
- SUS faculty salary will not be support by STF funds
- Funds within a given category (e.g., airfare, materials) can be reallocated by 25% or less without Dean approval
