Major-Integrated Global Honors pathways permit Global Honors students within certain majors at UW Tacoma to substitute honors-approved major courses for their Global Honors course requirements to earn Global Honors Distinction.
Major-Integrated Global Honors Pathways
To earn Global Honors in Business Administration (Global Honors Distinction), students must take:
- One Global Honors Intro Course: T GH 203: Themes in Global Honors (5 credits) OR T GH 300: Re-Orienting the Global (2)
- One Honors Approved Course:
- T MKTG 480: International Marketing (5) - approved substitution for T GH 303
- One Global Honors Core Class*:
- T GH 301: Global Interactions (5); OR
- T GH 302: Global Imaginations (5)
- T GH 490: Research Methods (2)
- T GH 491: Thesis Symposium (1)
- Capstone:
- T GH 494: Thesis (5); OR
- T GH 495: Independent Study: Reflection Essay (2-5)**; OR
- T GH 496: Experiential Learning (5)
* To earn the Minor in Global Engagement students in this pathway must take both T GH 301 and T GH 302.
**Students who complete a study abroad may opt for two credits of T GH 495 [Independent Study: Reflection Essay] for Global Honors Distinction.

To earn Global Honors in Healthcare Leadership, students must take:
- One Global Honors Intro Course: T GH 203: Themes in Global Honors (5 credits) OR T GH 300: Re-Orienting the Global (2)
- Two Honors-Approved Courses**:
- T HLTH 285: Introduction to Global Health (5 credits) - approved substitution for TGH 301: Global Interactions; or
- T HLTH 310: Health, Illness & Society (5 credits) - approved substitution for TGH 303: Global Challenges
- One Global Honors Core Class:
- T GH 302: Global Imaginations (5)
- T GH 490: Research Methods (2)
- T GH 491: Thesis Symposium (1)
- Capstone:
- T GH 494: Thesis (5), OR
- T GH 495: Independent Study: Reflection Essay (2-5)***; OR
- T GH 496: Experiential Learning (5)
* Note: T HLTH 310 is a required course for the Healthcare Leadership major.
** As HCL students in this pathway take 2 honors-approved courses as well as the Global Honors Core course, students also earn the Minor in Global Engagement.
***Students who complete a study abroad may opt for two credits of T GH 495 [Independent Study: Reflection Essay] for Global Honors Distinction.

- One Global Honors Intro Course: T GH 203: Themes in Global Honors (5 credits) OR T GH 300: Re-Orienting the Global (2)

- T SUD 444: Green Internationalism and the City (5 credits) - approved substitution for T GH 301: Global Interactions OR T GH 303: Global Challenges
- One Global Honors Core Class*:
- T GH 301: Global Interactions; OR
- T GH 302: Global Imaginations; OR
- T GH 303: Global Challenges
- T GH 490: Research Methods (2)
- T GH 491: Thesis Symposium (1)
- Capstone:

Apply to the Global Honors Program
Eligibility
To apply for Major-Integrated Global Honors, students must have:
- A 3.3 or higher cumulative grade point average (either from UW Tacoma or as an incoming transfer)
- A minimum of 45 credits at the time of admission
- Less than 135 credits at the time of admission
- Be admitted to/plan to declare the major
Application and Admissions
To apply, interested students should complete the Global Honors online application. (If you would like to request a paper application, please contact the Global Honors office at ghonors@uw.edu.)
Students who complete the application will be notified of their acceptance decision via email.
