UW Tacoma HR provides support to employees who are seeking to request an accommodation due to a medical condition, following the University’s disability accommodation process, which is designed to explore reasonable accommodations for employees (including student employees) with medical conditions or disabilities.
Accommodations may come in a variety of forms and may be temporary or long term and involve physical restrictions, work schedule adjustments, assistive equipment and/or leave. It is the employee's responsibility to initiate a request and provide any necessary information, including certification from a healthcare provider, in order for the request to be reviewed in collaboration with the requesting employee, the appropriate University personnel, and the Disability Services Office.
Medical information should not be provided to the employee's supervisor or department but should be sent to UWT HR or directly to the UW Disability Services Office. Any medical information that is received will be kept confidential.
Employees should review all information related to UW's disability accommodation process and reach out to UWT HR with any questions.
Managers should review the information related to UW's disability accommodation process for managers and reach out to UWT HR before acting on any requests.
