As staff and faculty, we have a crucial role and influence in sustainability within our community. We also spend the most time on campus and commuting to campus. Following some sustainable practices would not only have a profound impact on the students we serve, but would also set an example for our entire UW Tacoma community of how to be better stewards of our planet.
Green Office Certification
Our University has a program that incentivizes and certifies your office space or building as a green office.
If your department currently does nothing in terms of sustainability, this program will evaluate and provide options on how to greenify your office. If you are a staff member you can advocate to your supervisor to be a part of the program.

Take the UW Green Pledge
As staff and faculty we have an important role in demonstrating our contribution to the Sustainbility of our campus. Taking the green pledge will show us how many of our staff and faculty want to contribute to a more sustainable campus and life.
Green Laboratory Certification
Laboratories can be a significant source of waste and energy consumption. Because of this, UW has the Green Laboratory Certification program to mitigate the impacts laboratories have on the environment.
If you are a lab manager or run a lab, please consider certifying your lab as a green lab. This program will help you gauge where your lab is in terms of sustainability and give guidance on how to make it more sustainable.
