UW Tacoma's campus is located in downtown Tacoma, emphasizing the natural beauty of the urban landscape. Here are some outdoor spaces on campus that are available to reserve.

Cherry Parkes Turnaround

The parking area adjacent to the Library Loading Dock.

Please note use of this space requires approval from Campus Safety & Security and Events and Sponsorships.

Please note that this space is only reservable by University of Washington students, faculty or staff.  

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

Commerce Flag Pole

The space is located in the center of campus along the grand staircase next to the Flag Pole.

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

 

Commerce North -- Carwein/Academic

This area of Commerce is located just north of the grand staircase in the middle of campus.  This space extends from the staircase to the end of the Academic building.  

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

Commerce North - Dougan/Joy

This area of Commerce is located north of the grand staircase and both the Academic and Keystone buildings.  This space extends from the Joy building to the end of the Dougan building.

Commerce Plaza

Commerce Plaza is located in the center of campus along the grand staircase.

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

Commerce South

This area of Commerce is located south of the grand staircase. This space extends from the grand staircase to the end of the Cherry Parkes building. Reserving this space will also include the Gillenwater Plaza. 

When reserving the space for an event, there are two setup options to consider:

 

Court 17 Green

This small field is located on the southern side of the Court 17 building on 19th and Market St.

When reserving the space for an event please consider there are only six, 6' tables available for setup. 

Gillenwater Plaza

The Gillenwater Plaza is west of Commerce (to include the grass and square in front of the library)

When reserving the space for an event, there are two setup options to consider:

 

Grand Staircase East

This area of Grand Staircase is located on the East side of Commerce Plaza. This space extends from Commerce Plaza towards the bottom of the Grand Staircase. 

Grand Staircase West

This area of Grand Staircase is located on the West side of Commerce Plaza. This space extends from Commerce Plaza towards the upper portion of the Grand Staircase to Jefferson Street. 

Prairie Line Trail All Four

The Prairie Line Trail runs through the heart of campus and spans from South 21st Street to South 17th Street. 

When reserving the space for an event please consider the different sections of the Prairie Line Trail:

Prairie Line Trail JLS Memorial

This area of the Prairie Line Trail is located on the South side of the Prairie Line Trail Plaza. This space extends from the Dougan Circle to South 17th Street, near the JLSM Sculpture. 

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

Prairie Line Trail North

This area of the Prairie Line Trail is located on the North side of the Prairie Line Trail Plaza. This space extends from Prairie Line Trail Plaza towards the Dougan Circle. 

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

Prairie Line Trail Plaza

This area of the Prairie Line Trail is located at the intersection of where the Prairie Line Trail meets the Grand Staircase.

When reserving the space for an event please consider:

Prairie Line Trail South

This area of the Prairie Line Trail is located on the South side of the Prairie Line Trail Plaza. This space extends from Prairie Line Trail Plaza towards the South 21st Street.
