Purpose
The Chancellor’s Student Advisory Board is designed to represent all students at UW Tacoma and works to strengthen the connections between the Chancellor and the student body. The Board aims to improve student success and retention by focusing on budgets and policy changes, and other ways that UW Tacoma can best support students. The Board is designed to be diverse, and the students are selected based on multiple factors to ensure an accurate representation of the entire student body.
Qualifications
- Full time student at the University of Washington Tacoma
- Minimum GPA of 2.5 and maintain at least a 2.5 GPA while on the Board
- Involvement with our campus community and a strong interest in supporting the mission of UW Tacoma
Composition
- 12 student members appointed by the Chancellor including:
- Representatives from each of the schools (7)
- Graduate student representative (1)
- Pack Advisor representative (1)
- At-large members recruited from RSOs and general student population (3)
- Ex-officio
- Chancellor
- Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs
- ASUWT President
- ASUWT University Affairs
- Technology fee committee representative (1)
- S&A Fee Committee representative (1)
- NESOF Committee representative (1)
Responsibilities
- Student will serve as a student representative on the Chancellor’s Student Advisory Board.
- All members of the Board must adhere to all rules and regulations at UW Tacoma, in addition to any local, state, and federal laws.
- Members must present themselves in a professional manner and ensure that they are representing the entire student body.
- Members must also be available to meet on a monthly basis during the school year to meet with the Chancellor and representatives of her Executive Leadership Team.
Term
- Students will be nominated and selected during winter quarter.
- Term of service will be from Spring quarter through the following Spring quarter.

- Letter of recommendation
- Submit application to Joe Lawless jlawless@uw.edu by June 15, 2024. **applications will continue to be accepted for open positions until filled **
- The Chancellor’s Executive Leadership Team will review all applications and notify selected students no later than July 1, 2024.
