Thanks to a program of Tacoma Public Schools and Metro Parks, middle schoolers and high schoolers will have safe, fun places to be from 5-10 PM. Schools, community centers and non-profits opening their doors to keep teens safe and engaged. Middle and high schoolers can get dinner every night and participate in open gym, art and music activities, and hang out with friends.
In order to popularize the program, Tacoma Deputy Mayor Kristina Walker and Pierce County Councilmember Ryan Mello led a group of volunteers who doorbelled in local neighborhoods. “It was fun,” said Stan Emert, Milgard School of Business. “The people of Salishan welcomed us with smiles and thanks for the Late Nights program.”
