Legal Pathways Fellows Program
Students who are accepted as Legal Pathways Fellows will have the support and assistance of the Legal Pathways Program as they prepare for and apply to law school. Schedule a meeting with the Director of Legal Pathways and we will work on setting up a schedule and strategy to support you in preparing for and applying to law school.
Eligibility and Application Information
Legal Pathways Fellows will be selected on a competitive basis considering a wide variety of factors. To be considered, applicants must submit a complete application and supporting materials by the application deadline. In addition to the required application materials, in order to be eligible for consideration, applicants must:
- Be a current University of Washington junior, senior, or alumni;
- Intend to apply to law school within two years of becoming a Fellow;
- Be a first time LSAT test-taker or have received a 149 or below on a prior test administration;
- Be able to commit to intensive LSAT study between in the summer/fall utilizing a commercial LSAT preparation program (approximately 15-20 hours per week);
- Commit to take the LSAT;
- Have taken or register to take TLAW200 (2 credit Pre-Law Seminar) (UW Alumni are exempted from this requirement).
Students from groups underrepresented in the legal field including alumni who are members of underrepresented minority groups, formerly incarcerated, or first-generation college students are highly encouraged to apply.
Required Application Materials:
- Legal Pathways Fellowship Application Form;
- Résumé including GPA, major/minor, and all academic awards (2-page limit).
Incomplete applications will not be considered.
Expectations of Legal Pathways Fellows:
- Meet all LSAT, law school application, and program deadlines;
- Attend all classes associated with the LSAT preparatory course;
- Commit to 15 hours a week of LSAT preparation for 12 weeks (including time spent in LSAT course);
- Take TLAW 200;
- Commit to attending three in-person legal events and report them to the Legal Pathways Director.

- Email your application and resume to jfshep@uw.edu. Please save files using your last name and a description of the document (i.e., “Smith, Personal Statement” or “Jones, Resume”)

Program Timeline
January 2, 2024: Legal Pathways Fellows Applications Open
Spring Quarter, 2024: TLAW 200 offered for accepted Fellows
Summer and Fall: Start commercial LSAT preparation program
November 2024: Take the LSAT
Fall/Winter 2024: Complete and submit law school applications
Fall 2025: Law School Matriculation
