Requirements for Graduation Policy 1.1: Graduate Degree Requirements – UW Graduate School
- Completion of 36 credits of coursework, 6 credits of practicum (180 hours) and 6 credits of Scholarly inquiry.
- A student must complete all work for the master's degree within six years from the time of first enrollment. Periods spent on leave or out of status are included in these limits. Exceptions to time to degree will be made at the program level.
- A student must be registered for credit the quarter in which any required exam or presentation occurs. A student must maintain registration as a full-time or part-time graduate student for the quarter the degree or certificate is conferred.
- A minimum cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.00 is required to earn a graduate degree, and a minimum of 2.7 is required in each course that is counted towards graduate degree requirements.
To qualify for graduation with a Master of Nursing from the University of Washington Tacoma, students must complete all of the following requirements:
Application for Graduation
- You will need to apply online with the Graduate School for the master's degree by the deadline stated by the Graduate School for the quarter in which you wish to graduate. Failure to complete the online application will result in being required to register for the next quarter.
- All requirements for the degree must be met by the end of the current quarter if the application is to be approved. The applicant is notified of deficiencies by the Graduate School.
- The Committee Signature Form (also referred to as Warrant for Master's Degree) is issued by the Graduate School to the Graduate Nursing Advisor.
- The Graduate Nursing Advisor gives the Committee Signature Form to the Supervisory Committee for signature by the student's faculty advisor and scholarly inquiry faculty member after the student's final presentation of scholarship.
