Welcome to the Husky Family!
We understand the important role families play in the lives of their students. We also understand that sending a student to college represents a major milestone in your lives and a significant investment in their future. There are resources to assist students in the classroom and in their personal development. While it's important for students to exercise their independence, we also want to remind them that it's okay to ask for help.
When your student begins their journey at UW Tacoma, the entire family experiences excitement and change. The next step in your journey is to participate in Family Orientation, where you'll learn about resources to help you help your students successfully transition to UW Tacoma and thrive as new huskies. Parents, partners, grandparents, Family Orientation is optional, but encouraged.
Family Orientation

We invite you to participate in a Family Orientation program, designed to help you become familiar with resources and guide you through your student’s transition process. The Family Orientation experience takes place during the student orientation and will allow you to: gain more of a feel for the campus community, learn about campus resources, and connect with staff, faculty and current students Learn what it means to be a Husky.
