Principles & Objectives
To determine what types of assessment techniques you will use in your course, you must first know what you want students to learn and how that learning can be measured. Constructing an effective assessment plan, based on measurable and aligned outcomes, provides faculty with valuable information to support student growth and insights into critically reflecting on their pedagogical choices and teaching strategies. This stamp explores the various ways in which we can measure student mastery of learning and approaches we can take to ensuring students know what is expected when evaluating their performance.
Some of the objectives that are explored in faculty development opportunities within this passport stamp are:
- Objective: The instructor provides learners with multiple and varied ways to demonstrate their knowledge or mastery of course concepts and skills.
- Objective: The instructor provides specific and descriptive criteria for the evaluation of learners’ performance.
- Objective: The instructor helps learners understand the importance of academic integrity and the implications of academic misconduct.
