Upcoming speakers
The free Alumni Speaker Series brings alumni back to campus to share their stories and career advice with current students and fellow alumni. Speakers have earned a University of Washington Tacoma degree, professional certification, or in special cases, have attended a University of Washington campus for at least two years and have graduated from another accredited college or university. This also includes UW alumni who live and/or work in Tacoma or the South Sound and have a positive impact on UW Tacoma, Tacoma, and the South Sound.

Dr. Natalie Hart is a seasoned DEI consultant with over a decade of experience. She excels in creating inclusive workplace cultures, developing engaging training programs, and facilitating courageous conversations. With expertise in breaking down complex subjects and crafting compelling presentations, Dr. Hart empowers teams to thrive. She holds a doctorate in K-12 Leadership from University of Southern California, a master in Education Policy and a double bachelor's degree in American Ethnic Studies, Communication, and Comparative History of Ideas from the University of Washington.

Since beginning a new career in nonprofit management, William Towey (SIAS '15, '17) has worked in nonprofit leadership roles addressing complex, deeply entrenched, cross-sector problems at population scale such as the racial wealth divide, P-16 education, behavioral health, and homelessness. He has served as a board member with Pierce County nonprofit organizations and local governmental committees. Currently, William is the executive director of Lake City Partners, a homelessness service provider of shelter, day center, outreach, and client services programs in the North Seattle/King County area. William holds a BA in Politics, Philosophy & Economics and a master of arts in interdisciplinary Studies from UW Tacoma. He has published articles and papers on gentrification, political economy, and housing and homelessness. William’s first career was in the technology industry, specializing in very large-scale systems integration, networking, and venture capital.
