Academic Policy and Curriculum Committee
The Academic Policy and Curriculum Committee is responsible for matters of policy relating to academic affairs, including proposals for new academic programs; majors, minors, concentrations, and undergraduate and graduate certificate programs; applications for new and revised courses; scholastic standards including admissions; and campus graduation requirements.

Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure
The Faculty Committee on Appointment, Promotion, and Tenure advises the Chancellor on promotion and tenure cases under review, and on appointments in cases where consultation is needed. It also recommends policies related to appointment, tenure and promotion.

Art Committee
This committee reviews and makes recommendations to the chancellor on acquisition and permanent installation of artwork at UW Tacoma, consistent with the UW Public Art Policy. The committee also applies the UW Public Art Policy to review of temporary installations.

Associated Student of the University of Washington Tacoma (ASUWT)
ASUWT is the student government body, the voice of students at UW Tacoma, in the community, and in state and local governments. Their job is to represent UW Tacoma’s diverse student body by promoting students’ interests, needs, and welfare at every level of power.

BAC advises the chancellor on the allocation of resources, including new initiatives or topics with significant financial impact to the campus and overall budget.

Business Diversity & Equity Committee
The Business Diversity & Equity Committee encourages units to align with the purpose, scope, and policy of the Board of Regent’s Policy #60. This program aims to increase purchasing and contracting opportunities for local, small, women-and-minority-owned businesses to reflect the rich and diverse population we serve in the City of Tacoma and surrounding Puget Sound area.

Campus Community Safety Advisory Committee
The Campus Community Safety Advisory Committee will focus on safety, security, preparation issues on the UW Tacoma campus, and integrating into the overall University of Washington Emergency Preparedness and workplace safety planning. If, in the judgment of the Committee, changes in policies or procedures are necessary, it is the responsibility of the Committee to recommend such to the Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration and Chancellor.

The UW Tacoma Campus Technology Committee (CTC) provides advice on the use of information technologies to the Vice Chancellor of Information Technology and the campus as a whole.

Distinguished Research Award Committee
The Distinguished Research Award recognizes a faculty member who has achieved a record of notable scholarship or creative activity, who has generated new knowledge or creativity that impacts their intellectual discipline, and who has contributed to the intellectual climate of the UW Tacoma campus and its communities.

Distinguished Teaching Award Committee
The Distinguished Teaching Award recognizes a faculty member who demonstrates a mastery of their subject matter, the ability to engage diverse students both within and outside of the classroom, and strives for innovation in course design.

Distinguished Community Engagement Award Committee
The Distinguished Community Engagement Award recognizes the important and innovative community-engaged and community-based work by faculty at the University of Washington Tacoma. This work may be short or long term and may be with a single or multiple partners, and may be focused on teaching and learning, research, policy, citizenship building, creative work, or community building.

The Faculty Affairs Committee investigates and responds to issues of widespread concern including, but not limited to, faculty governance, procedures regarding tenure and promotion, merit, teaching assessment, and an ongoing focus upon race and equity.

Faculty Assembly is the collective voice of UW Tacoma’s faculty. The means by which the faculty performs its role in setting University policy for the purpose of advancing the university’s mission. Its responsibilities include setting admission and graduation standards, creating courses and degree programs, and establishing criteria for faculty appointment, tenure and promotion. The Faculty Assembly also advises the Chancellor on budgetary matters and other policies that affect the university’s ability to achieve its academic goals.

The Global Honors Faculty Council is responsible for providing academic and specialist guidance to the Global Honors program on matters including curriculum, admissions and graduation.

Non-Tenure Track Faculty Forum
Lecturer Affairs addresses issues pertaining to the growth, sustainability and labor equity questions surrounding contingent faculty within the University of Washington and the effects these issues have on student outcomes. It is a subcommittee of the Faculty Affairs Committee.

Paulsen Visiting Chair Committee
The purpose of this committee is to advise the Chancellor on the selection of annual speakers for the Arthur R. and Anna Mae Paulsen Endowed Lectureship in Public Affairs, as well as ensure that the speaker contributes to an intellectually vibrant campus, and engages with students.

Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC)
The Services and Activities Fee Committee (SAFC) is appointed by the chancellor. Student members of the SAFC set the amount of the SAF and recommend what services the fee will fund.

The Staff Association facilitates communication between staff, faculty and administrators on campus-wide issues. It seeks to unify staff at UW Tacoma, in order to enhance the working experiences and ability of staff to contribute to the larger campus community.

Student Technology Fee Committee (STFC)
The Student Technology Fee Committee (STFC) is appointed by the Associated Students of UW Tacoma (ASUWT). Student members of the fee committee recommend the amount of the STF and decide what technology resources the fee will fund through the Annual Allocation and the Special Allocation processes. The STFC includes at least four students, five non-voting ex officio members and one compliance officer.

Use of University Facilities (UUF) Committee
The Use of University Facilities (UUF) committee establishes policies, guidelines and procedures for use of university facilities by UW Tacoma students, faculty and staff and by members of the surrounding community.

The Alumni Council is the core of an active UW Tacoma alumni community providing opportunities for lasting engagement, collaboration and networking while supporting the mission, vision and goals of UW Tacoma.

The Real Estate Advisory Committee for the University of Washington Tacoma provides guidance and advice to the Chancellor on issues related to campus real estate and the growth of our 46-acre campus footprint.

Educational Administration Program Professional Educator Standards Board (PEAB)
Required by the State of Washington Professional Educator Standards Board, this Board participates in and cooperates with the School of Education on decisions related to the development, implementation, and revision of the Educational Administration preparation program.

The School of Education’s Advisory Board is a significant hub of influence, serving in an advisory capacity to ensure the School of Education is fulfilling its mission and priorities. Board members provide the Dean with advice and insights about the School of Education’s growth areas, performance, and strengths that will inform the academic unit’s planning efforts and shape its priorities.
