The University of Washington Tacoma is a campus of the University of Washington and is governed by the UW Board of Regents and its officers.

Regents hold their offices for a term of six years. At the end of their term, they continue to serve until they are either re-appointed or a successor is appointed. The Student Regent serves a one-year term from July 1 through June 30.
