Students have registration holds placed on their accounts for many reasons, but there are a few that are usually placed only on first-year and pre-major student accounts. Those holds, and how to have them lifted, are detailed on this webpage.
If a hold has been placed on your account that is not listed on this page, please review the Registration/Transcript Holds section of the Registration Policies & Procedures webpage hosted by the Office of the Registrar.
TACADV: First-Year Advising
Registration Hold
The TACADV registration hold is placed for the first two quarters of registration on the accounts of all students admitted on a Freshman/First-Year application.
This hold is placed as a means to require these students to connect with an academic advisor at the beginning of their academic journey at UW Tacoma.
First-year students admitted for Autumn will have the hold placed on their first Autumn and Winter quarter registration. *
First-year students admitted for Winter will have the hold placed on their first Winter and Spring registration.
* First-year students admitted for Autumn will ideally attend a New Student Advising & Registration event and have their Autumn TACADV hold lifted during the event.
To have this hold lifted: First-year students admitted for Autumn 2024 will receive information related to New Student Advising & Registration sessions in early May.
SATPROG/SPP 105 Credit
Registration Hold
The Satisfactory Progress 105 Credit registration hold is placed on the accounts of students that have accrued 105 total completed credits but have not yet declared a major.
This hold is placed as a means to require these students to connect with an academic advisor at this critical juncture in their education to evaluate their circumstances, develop an academic plan, and extend their pre-major status if necessary.
To have this hold lifted: Connect with your pre-major academic advisor via appointment, drop-in, or email.
