UW Athletic Director Jen Cohen to Teach at UW Tacoma
Jen Cohen, UW Athletic Director and Tacoma native, will teach a course in sports enterprise management at the Milgard School of Business this winter.
Jen Cohen, the highly respected University of Washington athletic director, has joined the faculty of the Milgard School of Business Sports Enterprise Management program at UW Tacoma. She will teach a course called “Advanced Topics in Sports Enterprise Management” in the winter 2022 academic quarter.
“I can’t wait. I love being with students, particularly undergraduates,” Cohen said in an interview with Stan Emert, Executive Director of Sports Enterprise Management. “There’s so much going on in sports. We can evolve with the issues of today,” she added.
Cohen, the only woman athletic director in the Pac-12 conference, is a Tacoma native and a graduate of Curtis High School. Her master’s degree in sports administration is from Pacific Lutheran University and her undergraduate degree is from San Diego State University. Cohen has worked in athletics administration at UW since 1998, and became the Director of Athletics in 2016.
“Jen Cohen is a great addition to the Milgard School of Business,” said Dr. Altaf Merchant, Dean of the Milgard School. “She brings opportunities for our students at the highest level of the multi-billion dollar industry of major college sports.”
The Milgard School of Business offers a minor in sports enterprise management. The program is open to all students at UW Tacoma. The minor can be completed in one academic year.
