Admitted students to the UW now have until June 1 to commit, a result of FAFSA delays
The University of Washington is extending the confirmation date for newly admitted first-year freshman undergraduate students from May 1 to June 1 for the 2024-25 academic year.
The University of Washington is extending the confirmation date for newly admitted first-year freshman undergraduate students from May 1 to June 1 for the 2024-25 academic year at all three campuses. June 1 is now the date when admitted students must confirm their acceptance and place a deposit to hold their spot in the fall 2024 entering class.
The extension is a result of delays by the U.S. Department of Education in posting the new Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form for students and their families to complete, as well as delays in releasing financial data to colleges and universities nationwide. The UW needs that data before it can begin the process of determining how much federal, state and UW financial aid to award eligible admitted and current students.
The extension applies to first-year and freshman undergraduate applicants to the University’s campuses in Seattle, Bothell and Tacoma.
To receive priority consideration for financial aid, applying students should complete the FAFSA by Feb. 28. The Office of Student Financial Aid will work with students who experience difficulty completing their FAFSA by this date. Undocumented students living in the state of Washington and who are not eligible to complete the FAFSA should fill out the Washington Application for State Financial Aid (WASFA) by Feb. 28.
Offers of admission to UW Tacoma have already been released for many first-year applicants.
Admitted Student Day for UW Tacoma is scheduled for April 27.
