Addressing campus concerns around safety
This week we were informed of behaviors and threats made by a student that rose to a level of concern that the SafeCampus threat assessment team was activated, and actions were taken to ensure the safety of our campus community. We continue to work with SafeCampus and local authorities to monitor and assess the situation to ensure that all appropriate precautions are being taken.
I would like to thank the students who came forward to notify us of this situation. I would also like to assure you that we take these threats seriously and have a robust University response to assess threats and respond as appropriate.
These are challenging times, and the added stresses we all feel as we approach the end of the school year can sometimes be a lot. I encourage all of us to connect with resources listed below for help when you need it and contact SafeCampus or Campus Security if you have concerns.
To be clear, campus safety comes first in all cases, no matter the circumstances. We will continue to be diligent in our response and commit to continued improvements in emergency preparedness for UW Tacoma.
