Next Steps
- Send in final transcripts
- If you took classes during Spring or Summer quarter at a previous institution, you will need to send in your final official transcript even if you are already registered for classes at UW Tacoma.
- Confirm Registration
- Did you get fully registered at New Student Advising and Registration? If there is any reason you did not, make sure you follow up with any instructions from your advisor to get your final class schedule!
- Attend Orientation
- To get started at the University of Washington Tacoma, you will need to complete new student orientation. Many components of orientation are required of all new students and it is where you will be introduced to academics, student life, and extracurricular opportunities.

Peer Student Success Groups
Student Advising Mentors
Student Advising Mentors (SAMs) are available to help you navigate and utilize advising technologies such as MyPlan, DARS, Time Schedules and MyUW.
Peer Success Mentors
The Peer Success Mentors are available to guide their peers toward academic success through one-on-one appointments to discuss study habits, set academic goals and develop effective learning strategies and digital skills. Appointments are made through the TLC appointment system. We are offering mostly in person mentoring in TLB2, the TLC's Writing Center, but can use Zoom video conferencing to connect mentors and mentees online.
Pack Advisors
In your first year, you will be assigned to one of four packs (Purple, Gold, Black or Gray). Your pack will help you get to know other students, participate in activities and be provided with helpful resources. You can read more about your Pack Advisors below.
